YEAR 2 TERM 1 2009

Dear Parents,

On the reverse is a broad outline of the subjects which will be covered in the coming term.  If the children have any items of interest linked to our topic themes, or if you have any skills or interests to share we would be pleased to receive them.

Parent Help

If you would like to help in the classroom it is always appreciated!  There are parent helper timetables up outside each of the classes.

PE kits

Please can the children bring in their PE kits (t-shirts, shorts, tracksuits for outside PE and daps or trainers) on Mondays and leave them in school until Fridays. Some PE times are set but we will be also going outside for extra skills sessions on any day when the weather is fine.

For health and safety reasons children are not allowed to wear jewellery for PE, especially earrings. Please can you ensure if your child cannot take their earrings out on their own (without help) they do not wear earrings to school on a PE day. Children may only put tape over their earrings for the first 6 weeks after piercing.

Spellings

The way schools teach spelling is changing and we are currently in the process of applying these changes so you will receive a list of spellings for the term shortly. Spellings are tested on a Friday. Please only learn one week at a time.

Maths Targets

We will be looking at the children’s current targets and updating these over the next few weeks.

Water bottles

Children need to bring a full water bottle to school every day. It should be taken home each day and refilled.

End of the day

If your child attends SMASH club or Kid’s Club on regular days please can you let their class teacher know.

We are encouraging Year 2 children to become more independent. It would be great if they could come into the classroom on their own in the mornings.
